The activities of the AME platform ( Microbial Activities in the Environment ) are at the interface between microbial ecology and analytical chemistry.

The activities of the AME platform are aimed at characterizing microbial activities subject to biotic and abiotic interactions in all types of environment. The platform hosts research projects in the fields of ecology and the environment, where it provides skills and technical resources to address scientific issues on :

  • Diversity-function relationships in key microbial groups in biogeochemical cycles (carbon and nitrogen),
  • The effects of plant diversity on the functioning of microbial groups,
  • Monitoring the ecotoxicity of emerging pollutants and environmental pollution on microbial communities,
  • Characterizing the impact of climate change on microbial communities,
  • The impact of bio-remediation on microbial enzymatic activities.

The platform develops skills in :

Assessment of the enzymatic activities of bacterial strains, microbial communities or environmental samples such as soils, sediments and waters.

To achieve this, we routinely carry out :

  • Incubation under controlled conditions (liquid media or environmental samples) with different types of substrate and a wide range of gases H2, O2, N2, CO2, N2O, C2H2, C2H4, and compressed air.
  • Determination of soluble compounds (i.e. ions) in samples using various techniques.
  • Determination of various gaseous compounds (O2, N2, N2O, CO2, CH4, C2H2, C2H4) in samples using different techniques.

How to find us :

AME platform activities are open to members of the unit, as well as to academic and private partners, subject to availability.
