Microbial Dynamics and Viral Transmission - DMTV

DMTV team's research focuses on the study of the mosquito holobiont, i.e. the various players (host and associated microorganisms) and their interactions.

Our work aims to understand the role of microbiota in the biology of mosquito vectors, particularly in a context characterized by the effects of increasing urbanization on habitats. Considering these biotic and abiotic factors is a major challenge in preventing the epidemic risk associated with mosquito-borne diseases in urban environments, particularly in mainland France where autochthonous cases of Dengue and Chikungunya have already been reported. The holistic approach of our research combines observations in natural environments and laboratory experiments. Multi-omics approaches and functional analyses in insecta are used to decipher whether and how microbes shape the individual phenotype of mosquitoes and their selective value, paving the way for new vector control strategies.
